Since buying the property Vermont in 2018 we were able to pay it off completely in May 2019. We had continued to spend summers at our friend's rental home in town. Sawyer has attended mountain bike camp at both Northwoods Mountain Bike Camp and Socapa Mountain Bike Camp. She had an awesome time at both camps and developed two great moves at Socapa(click mountain bike pic below). Colbie loved being able to hike in the woods every day on her favorite trails, see the cows down the road and visit her beloved bakery, Auntie Dee Dees.
After finishing the very rustic stone stairway, I stood on the top of the rock outcropping of the property and thought it would be a great idea to take down some trees to finally see the view. I bought a copy of the Caledonian Record, a local newspaper and found an ad for tree removal. I had a little money saved and thought I would surprise Chris. Maurice Bedor called me back and said he would meet me at the property to review my plan. We walked around the property and, doubting my sanity, asked me if there really was a view behind the trees. I said I was certain there really was a view of Burke Mountain and he agreed to come back and take down any tree I had marked. A few days later Maurice came back promptly and took down all the trees I had marked. My goal was to remove just enough trees to see Burke Mountain but not look like we had dropped a bomb on the property. I wanted it to be selectively cut. Standing on the stone outcropping, Maurice and I looked at the newly exposed view of Burke Mountain. It was awesome. Maurice flagged a couple of more trees that had to go and I remarked to him that I could build a cabin on that exact spot and be happy forever. His response, "I can help that happen for a reasonable price." That set the wheels in motion.
